Inspired by the Renaissance Art
This is my friend, Patch! :D
This sketch of him reminds me of the renaissance art technique and principle.
These are the contraposto and foreshortening.
Contraposto is the disposition of the human figure in which one part is turned in opposition to another part, creating a counterpositioning of the body about its central axis. Sometimes called weight shift because the weight of the body tends to be thrown to one foot creating tension on one side and relaxation on the other human figure opposition counterpositioning central axis weight shift thrown foot tension relaxation.
and
Foreshortening is the use of perspective to represent in art the apparent visual contraction of an object that extends back in space at an angle to the perpendicular plane of sight.

art history photo essay
DLSC Main Bldg.
(Milagros del Rosario Bldg, inspired by designer Leandro V. Locsin)
Shipshape Windows
Like the windows of the Colosseum of Rome, DLSC main bldg. has the square or the boxed-style windows. It shows peace and order because of its equal measurements.
Sthonchused Top. Inspired by the structure of Egyptian's art, pyramid. The triangular style with the university's name on it shows integrity and faith to its doctrine.
Puissance Stands
Inspired by the columns of different Roman structures, also with the pyramid form above. Located at the main entrance of the building, this shows the strength that builds up the confidence of the school.

Window on the Roof
Inspired by the Mesopotamian style. DLSC will not ground you for the rest of your college. There is still the freedom that a person must have.

my classmates's awesome mandalas
waddup waddup?! all eyes on my classmates' mandalas!
This is Dianne's mandala. The first thing that came to my mind was that she's sooooo in love. There are big hearts surrounding little hearts, just full of hearts! I think that's a flower in the center that shows how happy she is :)
Liane's mandala's awesome :> It looks so neat and orderly. The symbols she used probably represent expressions or feelings such as happiness (for butterfly), anger (for fire), confusion (for spiral), strength (for triskelion).
I understood cj's mandala more because I know her well :D Her mandala shows who she really is --- she treasures friendship, shows her love for music, shows her creativity and shows how she adores life.
Ate Taki's mandala looks so incredible. It's full of details and creativity. I also saw many smiley faces which probably show that she's cheerful person. The cross prolly shows her adoration to her religion. Also, heart for love.
Dhin's mandala probably represents a lot of things for a lot of things :D Such as peace (peace sign), sadness and happiness (the left and right eyes, respectively), problems (different colors on the left and right side), blessing from God (butterflies), faith in God (tree). Really nice :)

What Makes Something Art ?
Each of the group members have different activites but have the same reason why they love doing it. They all do it for the love of bringing out the special other side of an object. They believe that in the form of baking, digital art and photography, they will be able to express a transformation. A transformation that attracts the eye of an imagination, creative human being who knows that there is beauty beyond what the eyes can see.
Nika, Aa and Cj believe that the artist's intention make something art for the reason that most of the artists make it as a way of showing the beauty of the unexpressed emotions like elation, depression and contentment. For example, in editing photos or in digital art, in order to show depression in the subject of the photo, there are actions to change the contrast and color and you can add some noise, and more! Using such effects, you can let a somple photo show its depressed side.

Nude pictures may be considered art by models, photographers, painter and other people. But for some, especially the church and other countries, they consider it explicit. I remember a priest preaching about the human body. He said that our body is the temple of the Holy spirit. We should take care of it and most especially respect. If you show your body to everyone, you also destroy the temple of the Holy spirit. But for artists, human body is wonderful and unique. Showing it is not a bad thing to do only if you do it for art's sake. So we think that there's no answer for this because there's two side for this question.

One good example for this question is the controversial photos of Glee casts. Well, some have violent reactions to this because according to them, it is not advisable for young viewers and should be sensitive. But for others it was awesome because the casts showed how flexible and sexy they are. That's why we can say it is true because people have different judgments on different things. Others don't like it while others appreciate and like it.
We think that one artistic or AESTHETIC judgment is as good as another because as we said earlier, we have different views and judgements.
We also think that the application of aesthetic concepts make something a Work of Art. For us, maybe in the world of movie.Like for example horror movies it is highly appreciated because you won't be able to make horror faces without using the aesthetics. And this is also an effective way to show the other side of an object and also to show more emotions.
THAT'S ALL :)

Plato oh Plato!
For Plato, art was the imitation of things and actions in a world itself the passing apparition, the transient shadow of a luminous sun, of the reality of the empyrean of Ideas. This does not mean that PLato thought of art as an imitative activity in the literal sense of term. it is possible that he meant very much the same things that aristotle did when he spoke epic poetry and tragedy, comedy, the music of flute and... as modes of imitation.
to plato, art was pretense in a theater of pretense
Plato sees good life as being attained through the perfect love and lack of desire. I agree with Plato's views. He said that all of the things have functions but maybe not for the same reasons. We are all living towards more knowledge and understanding one's good. Probably, he is also saying that we also live to express ourselves and let others express themselves too. In addition to that, Plato also thinks that virtue is hidden in our nature. It simply says that we all have the potential to be virtuous or righteous. That makes me realize and believe that if you haven't found any function for an object or person, it is because you haven't known it/them well or their attitude and thought ingeniously enough of their function. Lastly, I also agree that virtue comes from the absence of desires then it means that happiness or good life is when a person arrives at the mystical understanding of the world.
When it comes to art, Plato defined it as a mimesis of reality. This time, I don't agree to him. For Plato, the artist was a dull fellow, simply holding a mirror to nature, imitating it without purpose or thought. Probably at some literal point, I agree with it. Yes, an artist is "holding a mirror to nature" but it doesn't make him/her a "dull fellow." He just uses the nature to express his/her thoughts and will but he is not imitating it. The nature helps the artist be free and at some point, influences other people. Another reason why I did not agree to Plato is that every artist do not use subjects that do not know or has no knowledge about at all.
My reaction to Plato's view of art as being detrimental to people, basing it to music... I'd hate him. Well not really hate, we won't be friends, if he's still alive. I use music to escape from reality. Music makes me feel good and round. So I wouldn't agree to Plato especially when music helps me forget my problems and never give up :>
On the other side, Plato could be right with his view when it comes to the "other side" of the art. There are things that could be detrimental to people such as violence in video games, cybersex that happens in internet sites, too much public display of affection, etc.

LOURDESENSPLAT
Hola! This is my own creation of a color wheel :D I named it Lourdesensplat. I got this name from the two words, lour de sens and splat. "Lour de sens" is the french word for significant and "splat" is a... splat! Like, "splat!" I know you know! :)) I used the word significant because I named the colors in the splat with the significant or meaningful names and significant events in my life :> And "splat" because I used a splat to create my own color wheel.
I'll discuss the color names I used...
The Pirated Sorority is my beloved circle of friends. It started when I was is high school. They're the best ;D
John O' is my top-notcher crush in AP bands.
Quincenera is the best event in my high school (and gradeschool) life (as far as I remember).
Kulasa because I'm a scholastican! Proud to be! Teehee. That's why it's in blue.
DLSC, my current school. That's why it's in green.
Cabuyao, where I was born and my current town.
Herminia is my mother's name. I placed it in yellow orange side because it's like the color of sunshine. And my mom's my only sunshine. :D
Sorry for the bad quality :( I just took a picture of it 'cause my dad's laptop isn't working so I can't use the scanner :( Thank you! :D

a day of aa
This is my first artwork for my class, artmusc. It depicts a day in my life. There are symbols that interpret the people and the things that I encounter in a day.
I am, actually, not satisfied with this one but I don't want to repeat it again. But it looks horrible! :(
I used water color and marker for the outlines.

through others' meaning, art is...
(play with the title! ;D)
Of all the quotations that my professor presented, the ones by Julia Cameron and Magdalena Abakanowicz best express my own explanation of art.
“Art is not thinking something up. It is the opposite --- getting something down.”
by Julia Cameron
“Art does not solve problems but makes us aware of their existence. It opens our eyes to
see and our brain to imagine.”
by Magdalena Abakanowicz
When Julia Cameron stated her own meaning of art, it reminded me of my way on how to produce an artwork such as paintings, poems/stories, simple doodles, etc. When I produce such thing, I don't plan it or thinking of what to draw rather, I use my thoughts and feelings to create something. For example, when I am depressed, I just let my hands to make a stroke and doodle then in the end, I realize that what I've done shows my problems or my feelings. It even sometimes help me realize and understand things that's been bothering me.
Magdalena's meaning of art somehow relates to my explanation of what art is from Julia's. Magdalena's meaning of art also reminds me of the photojournalists. Since they take photos of people, animals, things in current happenings. They are like bringing those things in action, which I really appreciate and that's also the reason why I want to be a photojournalist. I want to show people, everywhere in the world, the usual and unusual things that is happening in this world that they haven't seen yet (the unusual things) and the things that they usually see but they don't get the real meaning of the action. In short, I want to let the people appreciate all of the things in the world that God has given us through art. And probably, I could also bring change in the world through that (hopefully!).

long version of "About me" in facebook
INTRODUCE YOURSELF!
Call me Aa; no need to know my whole name. I just turned 17 last July 19th. Second year college in De La Salle Canlubang and taking up AB Communication Arts.
For a change, I'll introduce my self through some of my artworks that would best describe me ;)
Reasons why I'm pretty proud of it:
Based from the three reasons stated, I can say that painting using water color is hard because I had to make the colors fairly. It's a "had" because it wouldn't look that nice if I didn't make it fairly colored. Since it's water color, it's really hard to make the colors look fair because there were watery parts or the faded parts and I had to mix the colors with the water perfectly like the other parts' texture.

For a change, I'll introduce my self through some of my artworks that would best describe me ;)
This artwork is just one of my "organized doodles." I did this during my history class when I was in high school (I cant remember the year). Meaning, I cant just stare and pretend that Im listening to the teacher. I would do something productive which is, for me, doodling! Ill just put my pen in my hand and let the hand do the talking. I used the word "talking" because whenever I feel bad (annoyed, sick, depressed, etc.) or good (happy, feeling lucky, or in a good mood) I'll just draw and write random things in any paper. With that, I think a paper and pen are my very good friends.
This doodle shows that I easily get bored, I am random (could be nonsense, sometimes), lazy and introvert, probably.
This is one of my "leave no spaces artworks." I love this idea of kizioko, a female deviant. I started doing this when I was in high school. After landing on his profile in deviantart and browsing on his gallery, I was so inspired and tried to make one on my own right away. His techiniques were really cool and he really got
awesome hands! I colored this piece in Corel but I cant find it anymore (probably it's in my old laptop and I dont want to check it 'cause it processes really really really slow).
This piece or doodle shows that I get inspired easily by the beautiful and awesome things I see; and could also hear 'cause I love music so much too ;D
This is one of my paintings that I love so much ;D I just used water color but it looks really great especially when youre really handling it. Teehee. I named it "UpSideDown" and you probably know why.
Reasons why I'm pretty proud of it:
1. Because even though I just used water color, it ended up as a very nice piece.
2. Because it took me hours to finish painting it!
3. Because I got back ache because of that!!!
After all, the main reason why I like it that much is because I gave so much effort to it. That's why I brought it in school for the Introduce Yourself activity. I think it showed how hard working and, sort of, a perfectionist I am, that I could allot so much time and effort for a thing as long as there'll be a great outcome.
This painting was done in 50 minutes, I think. I like this painting because I think it looks nice even though I just did it in less that an hour. This was my assignment in Arts when I was in third year high school and we only had one night to do it. I think this painting itself could describe because as far as I remember, during the night that I have to do this, I got no idea what to paint. During that time, I also felt depressed and recent things that happened to me just kept running though my nerves. Then when I got back to think of my assignment, I realized that there was already strokes on my paper (I accidentally hit my paper with the brush) then I just continued making strokes then *tadaaa!* I finally finished my assignment! I dont know but it sounds it weird.
With all those things, for me, art is something you produce, see/watch, read or listen to, in which you get connected with and for me, I appreciate art in any kinds of things through my feelings and thoughts.

why have this account?
Hello past, present and future friends!
Obviously, this is my first blog. But why do I have this bloggah account?
Very first reason: because I needed it in my artmusc class. That it also the reason why my twitter account is now activated.
First reason: I can't actually think of any reason.
But I actually like blogging. I just wanted to type anything and everything in my mind which is actually what Im doing right now. But I never thought of having a bloggah or blogger account 'cause I think I'll just write nonsense stuff (but i like doing it!! but im shy *sad face*).
I think my very first reason makes my subject cool ;D this is my first "very techy" subject, others were techy but not cool. I was pointing out the yahoogroups, it kills my yahoomail! and thats leading to my new email account, gmail! I also had that account for my artmusc class. I think I'll just use my yahoomail as a trash mail :D Sorry yahoomail for removing you in my "good life," just blame my professor in artmusc. Teehee.
That's it! Ms. D! I hope you read this ;D 'cause this is also for you. Teehee :D
